De Futebol- Liverpool wins! Toons win! Man U wins! The Red Devils are in Second Place!

Brighton and Hove Albion Bournemouth started off the new Year with a two all draw.

Liverpool took a one nil lead when Sadio Mane found the back of the net in the 61st minute. Burnley clawed their back with a goal in the 87th minute when Johann Berg Gudmundsson leveled this puppy at one all.

It sure looked the Reds shot themselves in the head. Not so fast Bucko. Ragnar Klavan poked home the rock in the 90th minute plus four to lift Liverpool to a thrilling 2-1 win at the Clarets House.

Newcastle stopped their winless streak at two matches with 1-0 win over Stoke City.

Leicester City blew out Huddersfield 3-0.

EPL Match Report on the Liverpool win:” Ragnar Klavan scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give Liverpool a 2-1 victory over Burnley, which moves them level on points with third-placed Manchester United.

The Clarets thought they had rescued a point when they equalised on 87 minutes, but Klavan met Dejan Lovren’s header in the final moments.

Sadio Mane had given Liverpool the lead on 61 minutes when he collected Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross and superbly drilled past Nick Pope.

Johann Berg Gudmunsson made it 1-1 with a far-post header.

But the Reds, who were without the injured Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho, won it when Lovren’s header from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s free-kick was turned in by Klavan.

Liverpool are now 13 matches unbeaten, while Burnley have not won in five.”

Man U struggled early against Everton at the Toffees house. Two second half goals sealed the deal for the Red Devils in a hard fought  2-0 win over Everton.

Anthony Martial 57th minute and Jesse Lingard 81st minute send Man U into second place for now with 47 points.

This win stopped three straight draws for the mighty men from Old Trafford.

EPL Match Report on the Man U win:” Superb goals from Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard gave Manchester United a 2-0 victory at Everton, a result which moves them back into second place.

After being restricted to long-range efforts in the first half, United came out strongly after the break with Juan Mata forcing a save from Jordan Pickford and then hitting the post.

United took the lead on 57 minutes when Anthony Martial curled a shot into the top corner but Everton responded well to going behind, Oumar Niasse’s header just going wide.

However, Jesse Lingard made sure of the victory for United with a stunning strike into the top corner, his seventh of the season, with nine minutes to go.

United’s first win in four matches moves them into second, 12 points behind leaders Man City who play on Tuesday, while Everton remain in ninth.”
